    Music of the Season
Yes, I had to work the holiday, and I will always wish for a misty and green Christmas, but outside of that, We had a peaceful Yule / Christmas week together, finding the magic in the season before the bitter cold and snows of winter settle in. I think We've finally managed to cast off the last of the dead weight this year, bring on 2010, a year of great promise. Cards and all that still haven't gone out, but they will, in their time, We've been busy.

On Christmas Eve We attended service at an Episcopal Church here in Wakefield We've wanted to check out, small but pretty church, good musical selections and decent choir. We sang a Norwegian Christmas song, in English though, I am so glad each Christmas Eve, and a meditative Silent Night by candlelight.

We finally got the chance to sing In The Bleak Midwinter at Christmas. Singing with [info]alabastardragon always gives Me the chills, He sounds so much like Me.

Nightly throughout the week We settled in by the fire and Christmas Tree light to watch Our favourite, A Christmas Carol in its many renditions. Last night We watched Our beloved Alastair Sim version, and have watched other favourites starring Patrick Stewart and George C. Scott, as well as one made in 1938 with a Bob Cratchit who reminded Us very much of Wormtail ... and of course the Muppet Christmas Carol classic with Michael Caine, from which We get this gem, though with a Malfoy twist ...

Of course, this calls for the Muppets singing Carol of the Bells ...

    ******

In addition to the links above, partly for your listening pleasure, partly for Us so We can have them in one place, here are songs We love that suit Our voices, some of the songs We hope to record in the coming year, as a gift to Ourselves and to Our friends.

I may add to this post as music comes to mind ...

I'd love if you'd post your own favourite carols in the comments.

Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silent

Our friend [info]belluthien not too long ago reminded Me how much I love this song, posting a beautiful rendition of her own.

    O Come O Come Emmanuel

    O Come O Come Emmanuel

The Huron Carol ('twas In The Moon Of Winter Time)
... A beautiful song approximately 400 years old. The melody was borrowed from a French folk song. The song was originally written in the Huron/Wendat language and was later translated into French and English.

The Huron Carol ('twas In The Moon Of Winter Time)

'Twas in the moon of wintertime when all the birds had fled
    That mighty Gitchi Manitou sent angel choirs instead;
Before their light the stars grew dim and wondering hunters heard the hymn,
Jesus your King is born, Jesus is born, in excelsis Gloria.

    Within a lodge of broken bark the tender babe was found;
A ragged robe of rabbit skin enwrapped his beauty round
But as the hunter braves drew nigh the angel song rang loud and high
Jesus your King is born, Jesus is born, in excelsis Gloria.

The earliest moon of wintertime is not so round and fair
As was the ring of glory on the helpless infant there.
The chiefs from far before him knelt with gifts of fox and beaver pelt.
Jesus your King is born, Jesus is born, in excelsis Gloria.

O children of the forest free, O seed of Manitou
The holy Child of earth and heaven is born today for you.
Come kneel before the radiant boy who brings you beauty peace and joy.
Jesus your King is born, Jesus is born, in excelsis Gloria.

In The Bleak Midwinter The version [info]alabastardragon posted yesterday.

    I have finished moving out
It took a lot longer than I expected. And technically I haven't really started moving in yet.

I smell. My eyes are burning. I've been up all night. And ... fuck it. I might be dead.

Operation Move has commenced / Misanthrope
And I'm knackered. Oh yes. Half way, I reckon. And still lots of stuff to throw away, and the unpacking to come.

And in the meantime I went to see Sandi Toksvig's Christmas Cracker - I could see why it got the bad reviews, but on the other hand if you went there to enjoy yourself, you could suck some enjoyment out of it. Rather like an old fashioned Variety show.

And also the Misanthrope with Damien Lewis and Kiera Knightley. Persons in the seats behind us left at half time because it was full of stuff about art and boooooring. ~shakes head~

It's had mixed reviews. Kiera has come in for a bit of stick. I'm not sure that the timing in some of the exchanges are quite right in places, so they're still at about 90-95% of finished, and it is true she is painfully thin and perhaps not the most accomplished stage actress you've seen.

OTOH, I adored the production. Mostly because it accorded entirely with my preoccupations of the baroque, the postmodern, and the political. The Guardian were sniffy about the adaptation and said it was hard to see its relevance and I'm surprised, because I had no difficulty in seeing it.

This review of another production in Dublin strikes closer to the play I thought I was watching.

(ETA hthe adaptro's own take on things http://www.guardian.co.uk/stage/2009/dec/16/martin-crimp-moliere )

    Cut for spoilers )

I might go again, towards the end of the run and see how the performances have changed.

Also, critic was wrong about the highest price of the tickets, which is £65 actually.

Four Years ... FOUR YEARS ... and on this day I love You more than ever
Today We celebrate FOUR YEARS since reuniting in this world, and I think the words below say it all. They is based on the vow I made to Draco back when I first met him, reworked last year on this day, and I feel This Vow bears repeating on this day, it says everything I want to say today.

Also tonight [info]alabastardragon will be posting photos of the BEAUTIFUL cards He designed and made for Me, the We'll retire to the Pod for a film and just some time together.

    True Love Always Wins

December 19th FOUR years ago this confirmed loner found His soulmate, future, and family through, of all things, an LJ Deatheater site. There You were, so much like Me, and the first person I've ever met who shared those things about Myself that made Me so different, that which drew people to Me yet made them leave or turn in the end. This was a reunion of souls in one blood, and from that first day Our conversation has only grown with each day, it is infinite as are We, as We know inside, as We've been told by so many who've seen and felt Our bond and the love We share, who've chased Us down to comment on it.

Draco, You are the bravest person I know, You risked everything, got on that plane and took a giant leap of faith to find Your family and the love You needed to remain in this world. Most people are not willing, strong or brave enough to take that leap of faith, without ever looking back. You did, and it has made all the difference.

"Love is much like a wild rose, beautiful and calm, but willing to draw blood in its defense." - Mark A. Overby

People will always react to Us, to the kind of love We share, it is in everything We do, and cannot be ignored. The reactions often depend on personal state of mind and heart and are often extreme. It has not been easy, so much has been thrown at Us, many have tried their best to destroy Our family, Our bond, to drive Us apart, but We held close to each other in this mine field and We prevailed, quiet and unbreakable, as their curses fell back upon them. The good reactions far outnumber the jealous and vindictive ones, however, for most fiends know that you get back what you give.

We are two bodies who share a soul ... two hearts, one thought ... through eternity. Today We find Ourselves living the kind of fairy tale about which We, like others, once only dreamed. These are the moments, for which I prayed, dreamed of, through many years of emotional exile. Time lost cannot be regained, but We shall make the most of the time We have, and nothing will ever diminish the love I have for You, nor the happiness and pride You bring Me. I give You My promise. On this day, We interlock Our blood and hearts for eternity.

I give You all that I have, all that I am, and all that I will ever be, in complete trust that You and I will continue ... never ending, never wavering until the end of time. I vow You will always be My heart, My soul, My everything. My choice was sealed long ago, the best choice I've ever made.

I stand beside You as We celebrate all that lies ahead. I promise to stand beside You in times of joy and in times of trouble, times of strength and of weakness, as We overcome all obstacles together. I pledge to love You and keep You safe forever, to stand with You and support Your dreams. I promise to stand with You in life and in death, always in love, to live and die in each others arms.

May My heart be Your shelter, My arms Your refuge, when Your strength alone will not carry You, My strength will forever be there. When You need solace and the silent speech of love, I will be there always.

    No snow day
We were promised heaps of it, and a day off work.

And there isn't any at all. Bugger.

This week has been rather pressured, what with moving, a bit of a deal going down at work, trying to get all the work done before Xmas that needs doing..... writing Scorpius, trying to finish the Snapely Holidays piece which is now hugely over due.

I enjoyed the opportunity to hold forth on the three month LIBOR rate and whether it represented market value these days; thanks to reading the BBC's business pages, I know it doesn't, and I sounded all authoritative.

Someone dumped some work on me. I've decided I don't like her. It's little things, like her ignoring me at a conference we were both at rather than introducing me to her contacts, and she expected me to come down and collect the work I was doing for her as a favour rather than her bringing it up to me. Clearly she thinks she's more important than me. Which turns out to be slightly true. She's certainly not brighter though. Sniffs. You have to keep the talent happy, especially when you want a favour, and especially when the talent is me. For some talent is easy going and placid, and not that invested in hierarchy. Coughs and hides green and silver striped scarf. Some talent.

    Also, I want a payrise.

Having been in the new flat for a couple of days, I still can't find out where to turn on the heating. I think it's built in. Which means so are the bills.

Moving commences in earnest as of this evening
I get the keys tonight, Mumsy arrives to sit in and wait for deliveries, deliveries are all scheduled for tomorrow bar the spifing bed which will turn up whenever they get their arses into gear.

So that's the New Year then.

I've got to wash everything and pack it by Saturday evening, with a trip to the panto on the afternoon. And we're going to see Kiera Knightly in the Misanthrope on Friday night, though actually I'm going to see Damian Lewis.

    And... yeah.

And this is assuming the heat and light etc is on in the new flat. Still got to tell the old suppliers I'm moving out. Need to finalise cable at the old place. Buy new kettle so Mumsy can have tea tomorrow. Because tea and biscuits is vital to the smooth operation of everything.

    Wish me luck.

I may be a little slow in replying to comments as you can imagine. ~snogs internet with tongues and everything. I'm going to miss you. Don't let anyone break you while I'm gone~

I've run out of bad language. Internet crashing in mid sign up was last straw. Will have no internets in new year for the first week.
